Bit slack on mentioning this but i finally scored a new job back in videogames as a Visual effects artist a few weeks back. Have to say i'm really enjoying it, great to be part of a team again, and be excited about my work for once! Learning loads every day so plenty of challenges there and frees me up to do more of my own art rather than folio pieces to try and get freelance contracts :D

Sooo, I've parted ways with my last employer, on mutual terms i might add. This has given me a tonne more time to generate arts over the last month. I'm looking to get back into videogames, but its proving a hard market out there at the mo! Anyhoos, got my website updated, learnt Zbrush, practiced gameart, which pretty much leaves me with my 2d. Hopefully this free time will generate new 2d stuff for Deviantart, I've already finished my Ken pic and am moving onto Sagat next. Keep on trucking peeps, and if anyone hears of any games jobs in southern England gimme a heads up!

Hey, thanks for your kind words. I'm not sure how degrees work these days, i graduated in 1998! Usually its down to portfolio and a positive attitude. I've done hiring work for games companies and thats one of our major consideration, unique work (avoid spaceships anything chrome, lens flare and other out of the bad techniques). If your going for an animation post i'd focus more on animating and work with basic shapes, i know a guy who got into pixar based on an animation of the interation of 2 spheres and a fence! It was all about weighting and giving basic objects life. Also using sound clips is a popular one, animating a characters face and body to enhance a voiceover. Hope this helps
